About us
NEDDE - [Neurodiversity, Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating]

Our
Mission

At NEDDE Training, our mission is to ensure that mental health and nutrition professionals recognise that neurodivergent individuals require unique support. Traditional methods may not always be effective for neurodivergent clients, and our specialised trainings are designed with their needs in mind. We offer a vast array of courses for mental health professionals, including counsellors and therapists, as well as for nutritional health professionals, such as nutritionists and dieticians. Our training programmes focus on understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals, particularly in the context of disordered eating and eating disorders. Additionally, we explore the intersection of neurodiversity with various other subjects to provide comprehensive, targeted training.

Our Founders

NEDDE Training was founded by Bernie Wright and Lisa Smith.

Bernie, with many years of specialisation in neurodivergence and disordered eating, and Lisa, specialising in nutrition, saw a significant gap in the market for a company that focuses specifically on these connections and issues. Together, they have built a pioneering platform to train professionals in these critical areas.

Our Philosophy

At the core of NEDDE Training is a commitment to a person-centred approach. This means tailoring our methods to fit the unique needs of each individual. For instance, when working with a neurodivergent person who has binge eating issues, the approach will differ significantly from that used with neurotypical individuals. Understanding whether a client has ADHD or autism, their sensory issues, or their difficulties with food diaries is crucial. Our focus is always on the patient, adapting our strategies to support their specific circumstances and needs.

Our Services

NEDDE Training offers a wide range of specialised courses designed to expand understanding and skills of professionals working with neurodivergent individuals and those with eating disorders or disordered eating. Some of our courses include:

  • Introduction to working with clients suffering from disordered eating and eating disorders encompassing neurodivergent individuals.

  • Six-day Advanced Diploma courses in Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, and Neurodiversity.

  • Courses for nutritional therapists on working with neurodivergent clients and disordered eating.

  • Specialised courses like Domestic Abuse, Disordered Eating, and Eating Disorders, and exploring the intersectionality of LGBTQIA+, neurodiversity, and eating disorders.

Unique Approach

What sets NEDDE Training apart is our commitment to combining cutting-edge research with practical applications.

Our programmes are designed not just to educate but to empower professionals to make a meaningful impact in their practice.

We emphasise a thorough understanding of the neurodivergent experience and its implications for treatment and support.

Our
Team

Our courses are delivered by a team of experienced practitioners and academics. We collaborate with key experts who bring diverse perspectives and rich knowledge to our programmes.

These experts are often engaged on a course-by-course basis to ensure we always provide the most current and relevant information.

Impact and Future Goals

The impact of our training programmes is profound. Many professionals report that our courses have opened their eyes to the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals, often recognising these traits in themselves, their children, or their partners. These insights have significantly enhanced their ability to provide effective therapy and support, making small but crucial changes that improve outcomes for their clients.

Looking ahead, NEDDE Training is committed to expanding its reach and developing new courses. We aim to foster community engagement and remain at the forefront of innovation in the field.
